President Michelle Bachelet promised in the program of government on the ratification of the ILO Convention 189 in Chile, offering specific protection to women workers and domestic workers. It establishes rights and basic principles, and requires States to take a series of measures with the aim of making decent work a reality for them and they. The Convention could be implemented through extension or adaptation of existing laws, regulations or other measures or through the development of new specific initiatives for domestic workers.

In Chile, the Coordinator of Casa Particular Workers calls a national mobilization to fulfill her commitment during the first half of her administration.

Urgent measures involved are:

  • equalization of working hours to the rest of the workers in the country
  • specification of functions and place where these must be made in the employment contract
  • real control compliance with labour regulations

To express their demands, they will convene in Santiago on Sunday, March 30 at 10:00, walk from Manquehue Metro to Metro Alcantara by Apoquindo Avenue.
